MOD Bound!

To you out there that are asking “Whats “MOD?” , well, this abbreviation stands for Mitsubishi Owner’s Day. This day is the day where all Mitsubishi owners unite to show off their modded whips.

This will be the second time TEIN attends this event on the West coast. We are crossing our fingers for a great turn out. MOD is on July 13th, 2013 from 9am – 1pm. Make sure to stop by our booth and pay us a visit. Also, visitors are able to participate in a raffle. So, note that some great prizes will be available!

As you’d expect, you’ll see some of the best in modified EVO’s, 3000gt’s, Lancer’s, and Galant’s. Maybe some oddball or rare Mitsubishi’s as well. Here are just a few pictures I found on their website.

Going JDM!!

For a while now I’ve been an American muscle type of guy.  I’m talking Camaro’s, Mustangs, Challengers, Novas, Chevelle’s, etc.  I’ve owned both a Chevy and a Ford. I mean, who doesn’t love the sound of a Flowmaster muffled muscle car when flooring the pedal on that v8?!  I was also a fan of big rims, bright lights, ear drum popping bass, and eye sore-type paint jobs. But, maybe working here at TEIN has shoo-ken my head and opened my eyes  to a new scene.

I’ve always liked imports, but never enough to buy one. This time around I decided to go “JDM” and join the club. I figured, shoot, I’ll give it a try.  This time around I picked up an Altima Coupe. Nothing to make you jump out your seat but definitely something different than a Chevy.  And yes of course, I’m going to slam it on TEIN!!! I’m not the type of guy to keep a car stock. They’re like toys to me. I’m sure many of you out there will agree. So I’m definitely upgrading what I can. Like, OMG, who keeps their car stock??(lol).

Below are some slammed A/C’s out there.

Inked Up!!!

Through out the years we have received endless support for our product line. Some customers have stickers on there cars window, others have banners on there back panels. Some walk around with our umbrellas while others carry our back pack over there shoulders.

However other customers have decided to rock TEIN on another level. They have tattooed our logo. Thank you for your support and your ultimate demonstration of loyalty.

The Return Of Counterfeit TEIN

Earlier this year I posted a blog about counterfeit TEIN products.  It looks like there may be more out there than what we thought. We recently  received another damper for a potential overhaul repair. After a closer look at the design we confirmed this damper was also a counterfeit. We contacted the damper’s owner and informed him that his coilover kit was a just a copy of ours.  The customer was shocked and disappointed to hear he purchased a counterfeit coilover system.

Looks pretty standard compared to a TEIN damper from the side.

This view from the top shows the piston shaft looking down towards the ring nut. We don’t put a seal such as you see hear that states “Warranty VOID if seal broken”

P1070212

Although the black coating may look similar to our ZT coating, it is in fact just a black paint.

Again, we highly recommend our customers to only purchase from TEIN authorized dealers. Avoid purchasing on eBay, as you may very well be the next victim to purchase a counterfeit coilover system. Please visit the link provided below to locate the nearest TEIN authorized dealer to you.

Maintaining Your Investment

We know the purchase of coil-over kits can be an expensive investment, whether you’re buying our product line or a competitor’s. Some have to save up for the purchase while others can buy at their leisure. Nevertheless, maintaining your investment should never be overlooked.

Dirt and debris can potentially be caught in between the seat lock and threads. This can cause the seat locks to “Freeze” if you will, making it very difficult to remove or adjust your ride height. Even worse, dirt/debris can get caught in between the piston rod and seal prematurely damaging the damper(s). The seal will then eventually tear, causing the gas and oil to be released, making the damper(s) unusable and you as a customer very upset and irritated.

We recommend our coil-over systems to be periodically cleaned. You can hose down the dampers or put some love and elbow grease in to it and really detail them. Particularly focus on the piston rod and threads on the shock body. We also recommend to overhaul your damper(s) every 35,000 miles or three years. The internal gas, oil, and seals will be replaced. Doing so will prolong the life span of the dampers.

Keep in mind that upgrading your suspension and not maintaining it is like buying a new Porsche and never washing it. Or getting a new paint job and not waxing it. I can go on and on with similarities.

With that said,……Save your self a headache and  clean your darn suspension!!!

Oh, and of course, if you have any questions regarding overhauls, please feel free to shoot over an inquiry to tus_sales@tein.com!

A Hit or Miss Situation

During December 2012 we received a call from Bruce. He is the owner of  DeDona Tint & Sound, Inc. in Greensboro, NC. He had spoken to us during SEMA week and was interested in purchasing our Street Advance coilover kit. Now, the kit he was interested in is manufactured for the 2006-2012 Lexus Gs430. However, he wanted the kit for his 2008 GS460. We told him it may not fit, as there could be discrepancies in the vehicle weight , mounting points, etc. Plus, we have not tested that particular model.  Basically, it would be a hit or miss at his own discretion.  Nevertheless, he was determined and confident the kit would fit.

Flash forward to a month from December and Bruce calls confirming fitment. Now from our standpoint, we still can’t guarantee the fitment to consumers. Again, because our R&D team has not physically done the testing. He detailed to me that minor modifications had been done, and that the mounting points were identical to those of  the GS430.  He loves the drop, and ride quality all around. I was impressed and glad to hear that he was satisfied with our product as a TEIN customer and automotive enthusiast.

If you’re considering a aftermarket suspension for your GS460, I would recommend you give them a call to touch base on what exactly was done to make the kit work. Below is an image of this simple yet stunning 2008 Lexus GS 460.

2013 Tokyo Auto Salon

We have started this 2013 year strong with our newly released Street Flex and EDFC ACTIVE.

Unfortunately TEIN USA was not able to attend the 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon show in Japan (physically), but we still attended the show in the form of our parent company, TEIN Japan, and our photo taken earlier this month. Thank God for the web and media as that would be our only source for consumers to check out those neck breaking cars.

Anywho, we had our new products on display, along with our knowledgeable Japanese staff to answer any questions that enthusiast had.

They must have been swamped with questions with regards to our newly released product line.  Shoot, here in the US our phones don’t stop ringing, and our inbox is full of inquiries.  I’m sure that the next event we attend in the US will have lines longer than Best Buy’s on Black Friday.

Can anyone direct me to the TEIN booth??…lol

Overall it was a great show.  The consumers’ feedback was as we anticipated. Our new product line is being received with open arms and we couldn’t ask for more (well… except for more orders, of course!!! LOL).  Please visit the link provided below as it will direct you to our Face Book page. You can check out other photos taken at the show.  Feel free to give us a call or drop a message if you have any questions!

Look Out For Counterfeit TEIN!!

We recently received a single damper for a potential overhaul repair that stood out like a sore thumb. After a thorough inspection it was determined we received a counterfeit TEIN product. Now, this isn’t the first time to have happened. A few years back we had a similar  situation.

We were saddened to hear the customer was convinced he purchased an authentic TEIN product through eBay.  Goes to show that’s how greedy some people can be- to manufacture a counterfeit item with low grade material and put peoples’ lives at risk. Please take a close look at the images below.

Word of advice!! Only purchase TEIN product from an authorized TEIN dealer. Please visit the link provided below to help with locating the nearest dealer to you.
