New Defi Gauge Options

Attention Defi Fans!! Defi has released two lines of gauges for those looking for something a little outside of the box.

DEFI RS.C2 (Small)

The first of the two is the Defi Advance C2 gauge series. Now I know that most of you are going to  say “Why in Pink?,” but give them a chance as they aren’t bad looking! They actually look quite nice! These gauges require the use of the Advance Control Unit similar to the Advance BF and Advance CR series and,  as detailed,  come in a Pink color or a Blue color for the trim. The needle and bezel are a retro silver color, which accents the gauges really well and work with the numbers which light up a bright white. These gauges are only offered in Boost, Manifold Pressure, Oil Pressure, Fuel Pressure, Oil Temperature, Water Temperature, Exhaust Temperature, and Tachometer in 9000 and 11000 RPM.

The second gauge is more of a nostalgic throwback with the Defi RS gauges. I’ll be honest with everyone, these gauges are extremely good looking, as some of you may already know, I am partial to old school cars. A lot of older Japanese vehicles have Nippon Seiki’s “NS” logo on the OE cluster to which these gauges also had it placed on the face. The colors offered are the same as many of the old school cars did, in that classic green color and the classic white that is interchangable (one gauge = 2 different color options). These gauges also require the use of the Advance Control Unit and would be offered in  Boost, Manifold Pressure, Oil Pressure, Fuel Pressure, Oil Temperature, Water Temperature, and Exhaust Temperature. An 80mm Tachometer is currently in development, but also expected to be released in the near future.

Both gauges are currently on a Special Order type basis and can be purchased through any TEIN Authorized Dealer. However, these gauges may not be around for too long, as Defi decided to have limited production manufacturing of both gauges. The C2 gauge manufacturing would be ending in June of 2014 and the manufacturing of the RS gauges would be ending in February 2015. If any of these gauges do catch your eye, I recommend taking advantage of these gauges while supplies last.

New Takata Product Line

Takata_Harnesses_985x630

Takata had actually released a new line of belts at the beginning of this year.  The new lines have some more options available from the color types of the original green color to the new black colors. The belts would also offer either a two and three inch wide belt in the choice of a standard snap on clip or a new bolt on style which can just be bolted into the existing seat belt bolts.

The belt application will vary from the tuner who’s looking to add some bling to his daily driven project but still be street legal who can use the Drift Series belts, to the professional/dedicated racer looking for something to allow the adaptability of the HANS device available in the Race 4 and Race 6 Series belts. Regardless of what you may be looking the new Takata lines would be a little more budget friendly and customizable. For further details of the new belts available  please be sure to visit the weblink provided below. Also please be sure to visit Takata’s website for any Takata installation tech info as well as other new Takata products releases.

CUSTOMERS ALWAYS WELCOME!

I would like to thank Joe Monsalud from Chicago for stopping by and taking the time to visit us during his small vacation here in California.

He looked around our showroom and found the EDFC Active very interesting and will hope to add it soon to his ride. It’s always good to hear the customer’s feedback on our products on the vehicles and how they like the ride quality compared to other manufacturers, but of course everybody has there own liking for their car.  We informed him that we are always looking for customers’ pictures of their vehicles with TEIN Suspension that they can submit  so we can have their rides up on our blog and he was kind enough to send us the below images..

Thank you, Joe, for your constant support for our product and for stopping by and talking with us!

If you would like to stop by and check out our showroom and possibly get some replacement parts or some TEIN goods, feel free to stop on by TEIN USA.

Unfortunately we do not sell lowering springs or coil-overs directly to the public, but these can only be purchased through our Authorized Dealers.

Fitment Assumptions

I can not tell you how many times we have encountered fitment assumptions with our products whether it be the lowering spring fitment on similar chassis vehicles or year model descriptions.

It seems as though regardless of what it details on our website or other website, the assumption is that “It should work.” I can honestly say that verification of the fitment should be checked with us prior to considering to use the product on the application. If we detail that we can not confirm the fitment, we also recommend checking with the dealer for component fitment between models.

Still, even if are able to confirm some parts fitment with the dealer, since there had been no physical testing of the product the installation would be done at your own discretion. Ride height values and ride quality may just go right out the window.

Don’t always trust what your cousin’s, uncle’s, friends, sister’s, brother’s co-worker posted in a thread. One call or email can save you on any headaches.

Toyota Galore

On May 3rd we attended the Toyota Owner’s and Restorer’s Club event in Long Beach, CA.  There was a wide variety of unique Toyota’s in that event. Some vehicle model names might have be the same, if not familiar names we all know, but the overall look of the vehicles were very different. Some you might not distinguish the make or model.  The cool thing about this event was that some people came from far places just to show their vintage or unique vehicles here in California. Some attendees came from Canada, and some even from Mexico.  The import thing is that once they were at the event, it was like big happy Toyota family.

Below are some photos we took. We hope you enjoy!

2012+ Honda Civic Non-Si Conversion Kit

With the release of the Street Basis and Street Advance for the 2012+ Civic’s, we found a change in the design of the knuckle assembly from the Si models to the standard Non-Si models. This change in design is new to the civic this year as previous model years shared the same knuckle assemblies between models only changing out the brake systems to a larger size for the Si models.

P1070578 (Small)

P1070634 (Small)

This conversion kit consists of  two pairs of 14mm  bolts and eight collar washer. When installed properly this kit will convert the 16mm bolt hole on the TEIN damper to allow fitment to the 14mm knuckle assembly. Part number for the kit is SPS12-P9043. This kit is price at $146.00 and is readily available.  This kit is a little on the pricey side but would be required if the kit is to be used on a Non-Si model.

We will be testing the S.Tech lowering springs on the 4 cylinder model coupe for fitment and ride height confirmation. Coilovers have been confirmed fitment as the suspensions ride height can be adjust to compensate for the weight difference of the 6 cylinder model. We will keep everyone updated with the findings of the testing.

2013 Formula Drift

If you didn’t get a chance to be at the Long Beach Formula Drift event this past weekend, then wow you missed a great start to the season.

P1070472

As most of you know, we will try to make an appearance to all the local events. This was the first one of the season, and let’s say it was a good turn out and a good start as shown in the pictures below.

P1070434

Although it was a drifting event, I like the fact that they have a Car Show for the slammed vehicles.

For those who attended our booth and purchased some of our discounted item, such as shirts, key chains, and other goods, thank you for all your support!
