Do not try this at home!

I came across this rad video over the weekend of a custom built Kawasaki vs. corvette powered RX7 as they drift battle it out around the track.

Now what does this have to do with our company you may ask. Well its rad for one, it has some insane drifting and check out around 1:50. Yep, I spy some TEIN coilovers. This V8 RX7 driven by Jim Guthrie (professional race car driver) is using our Super Racing coilovers. Overall its a dangerous and awesome video. RC car camera=win, The End.

Evasive Motorsports’ Evo 8’s Latest Mods

The crew at Evasive Motorsports are at it again! This time, they’re testing with a new side exit exhaust…

Okay, so this is only semi TEIN-related.  And it is only semi TEIN-related because Evasive Motorsports uses our very own Super Racing dampers customized to their specs.

In case you readers missed our mention of this car back in October last year, the team was testing on a custom 3-way adjustable setup for the Global Tuner Grand Prix. I’m sure, however, that their car has been through a few minor changes since then.

But I’m specifically blogging about that super rad side exit exhaust today! Dude, so rad…

Here’s a clip of their car with the new exhaust at Buttonwillow

Evasive MS CT9A Side Exhaust

and another from the pits

Evasive MS CT9A Side Exhaust Garage

In that last clip, I’m sure that person saying something towards the end was trying to say, “That sounds f…….reaking nuts!” Yeah, my thoughts too, bud!

Why do I care so much about a side exit exhaust? Uh, because it sounds and looks cool. The turbo whirring, the cackle when the throttle is blipped, and the sputter when backing off the throttle. Can’t forget about the flame spitting coming from the side skirt. And yeah, I kinda like NASCAR. So what? Now I feel like hacking up my Fujitsubo exhaust and doing the same thing to my WRX.

Evasive Motorsports has one of the best looking and performing Time Attack cars in the U.S., hands down. In my opinion, this car will only get better.

We wish the team at Evasive Motorsports the very best in their endeavors. Best of luck in 2011, guys!

If you guys and girls like what you’ve seen so far, you’ll like Evasive’s blog just as much!

Okay, enough of this jibba jabba. I’ve got this video on repeat right now.

DC Sports S2000. Motor issues kept this street monster on the sidelines this year.

TEIN Engineer, Mr. Takizawa (TK) gathering some data from the Evasive cars. His tuning experience ranges from Japan One Make Civic races to 24hr Nurburgring Enduro.

Martin from AMS gave me a ride in this Alpha 9 GTR a few months ago, 740WHP at the time – SIMPLY AMAZING. I heard this was detuned for SLB to run on 91 pump.

Limited AWD Winner with a VERY tall rear wing.

Awesome Supercharged E46 M3.

Timeless good looks and super consistent lap times.

Capable of breaking records every time it comes to compete.

Another car capable of breaking records during any outing.

CRAZY, just CRAZY.

Congratulations to P-WRC driver P. Flodin

Congratulations to TEIN sponsored driver, Patrik Flodin, for his 2nd place overall finish in the 2010 P-WRC.

For those, who are not too familiar with the P-WRC.

PWRC is the Production Car World Rally Championship (P-WRC) is the FIA’s principal series for near showroom spec four-wheel drive, turbocharged cars.

The WRC is regulated and controlled by the Federation International Automobile (FIA), the governing body for worldwide motorsports. Most WRC rallies follow the same basic itinerary: two days of reconnaissance on Tuesday and Wednesday, to enable the driver and co-driver to check the route, and practice “shakedown”, on Thursday, followed by the competition itself on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Some events may also include ‘Super Special’ stages, short and compact sprint test which often feature two cars racing head-to-head.

The roads on the epic motorsport adventure ranges from ice and snow of Scandinavia to the stifling heat of Jordan – over surfaces including packed ice, smooth asphalt and rocks.

Patrik’s vehicle is a URT built Subaru Impreza WRX STi N14 GB, with TEIN Group N. Suspension.

TEIN Group N. dampers are developed through vigorous testing in the P-WRC. TEIN’s extensive background in Rally racing not only as a part supplier but as a former team have culminated into the Gr. N damper. Some of the basic features include  3+1-way dampening fore adjustment, external reservoirs, and inverted mono tube design. TEIN’s latest technologies have also been incorporated which are Micro Speed Valve, Temperature Compensating Valve, and Hydraulic Bump Stop. Gr. N damper has been tested all over the world, and currently used by competitors in P-WRC, China Rally Championship, Asia Pacific Rally, Polish Rally Championship and Africa Rally Championship.

Super Lap Battle Finals 2010

So SLB 2010 is over. TEIN engineer, R&D assistant and myself spent 2 days at Buttonwillow Raceway helping our sponsored vehicles. This year there was a smaller field but I think the level of competition and caliber of car was high.

Now on to the cars that we sponsor.

EVASIVE MOTORSPORTS

EVO 9 – Limited AWD
Driven by Mike C. co-owner of Evasive. Mike and the Evasive crew chased down minor gremlins throughout the event and never really got a chance to set a clean hot lap. Super Racing coilover with special 3-way rears. Best Time 1:51

Civic Si – Street FF
Also driven by Mike C. Testing out his newly modded engine and some aggressive suspension settings on his customized Mono FLEX dampers. Look for this next year after Evasive gets more testing done. We think it is capable of sub 2 min. lap times in the Street class. This year Best Lap 2:02

S2000 – Street FR (Evasive Sponsored)
Owned and driven by Tim Kuo. Very quick lap times considering the amount of modifications (almost stock NA motor) and no crazy body mods. Super Racing suspension and specifically chosen menu of mods. Best Time 2:02

CR-Z – Hybrid Class (Honda Tuning Magazine)
Also driven by Tim K. Very light mods since the car is so new to the US. Running our US spec. Mono FLEX coilovers and Falken 615K. Best Time 2:18.

Crawford Performance

2011 Scion tC – Limited FF
Driven by new up and comer, Michelle A. Quirt put this car together in just 2 weeks. Right now the car sports only a few light modifications. Running our proto-type Super Street coilovers. Best Time 2:14.

DC Sports

S2000 – Street FR
Owned by Mr. Will Law and driven by Tarzan. This project vehicle (see the build in Import Tuner magazine) needs more testing. This was the first time the car has seen the track since being modded. Modified Mono FLEX coilovers which Tarzan praised for making the car easy to control. Ran 2:02 – 2:03 in practice but had some gremlins come race day.

GMR Racing

S2000 – Unlimited FR (bumped from Limited due to mods)
Driven by Casey Dennis. GMR just recently installed the Super Racing coilovers. I am sure this car will go faster as they get it dialed in. Best Time 1:58

Have to mention that Sierra Sierra Enterprises broke the all time record with a 1:41.046. Watching the EVO carry speed and accelerate out of each corner was amazing.

Good Luck at the Global Tuner Grand Prix

TEIN Authorized Dealer Evasive Motorsports is headed up to Mazda Raceway aka Laguna Seca for the Global Tuner Grand Prix this weekend. We wish them luck against the plethora of Porsche race cars and other top tier time attack teams.

Evasive will be running Yokohama slicks for this event along with new 11″ wide TE37 SL, re-tuned SRC coilovers and a few aero enhancements. TEIN engineers have revalved front and rear dampers for the increased spring rates. Plus we have added a special reservoir tank to the rear shocks to give Evasive 3-way damping force adjustment.

2010 Season Champion

Congratulations to Vaughn Gittin of the Falken Drift Team for winning the 2010 Formula Drift Championship.

TEIN is a proud sponsor of the Falken Tire/ Monster Energy Ford Mustang as well as Falken Sky (D-Mac), 350Z (Tyler) and Mustang (JTP). These four vehicles are built and maintained by new Authorized TEIN Dealer, Autosport Dyanmics (ASD) out of North Carolina.

TEIN has supported various cars on the Falken Drift team since the days of Koguchi and Yamamoto. Great to see that one of the biggest teams in professional drifting has taken home the title.

Various TEIN USA staff members were at the House Of Drift both in the stands and in vendor alley. The championship fight was exciting, and to witness Vaughn clinch the top spot at the final event was awesome.

Ryan throwin up the Ws. Two other TEIN USA staff in the background who came to watch the action

Can’t wait until next year as the cars and drivers just get better and better. The entry speed, angle and distance between cars/ objects is amazing.
