Not Just Custom Coilovers

Our Specialized Damper Program allows for a custom set of coilovers to be made to your specifications, but what about springs? Well springs can also be produced under this program. We have offered coilover systems which utilize a HAS spring for those with a suspension design with a shock spring separate from each other and spring rate changes for those are not available. A custom rate and length set can be produced to your specifications.

IMGP6191s

Even if the application has no product available for it, a custom set of lowering springs can be produced again to you specification. As this is a made to order set, time frames would be around 2 to 3 months for the manufacturing process as well as container freight from Japan. The starting price for a pair of reproduction springs can be anywhere from $350.00 to $450.00. A complete set of custom lowering springs will be around $700.00 to $800.00. Although the price may be a little steep, keep in mind that this would be your own custom one-off set of springs which no other consumer would have.

OVERHAUL PISTON ROD CHANGE

We have received many overhauls over the years, a lot of the times we Highly suggest to change the piston rod out due to scratches, dents, pinhole damage. Below you will find the images of why we highly recommend to have them changed.

inspec_0708_2Above is the Microscopic view of a Pinhole damaged Piston Rod. As you can see if the piston rod is reused like that, that pinhole can rip or damage the new seal, and gas can leak from where the pinhole contacts a portion of this seal due to improper sealing.

See on the image below how it can have multiple damages that would require to highly change the piston rod for a new one.
inspec_10

The image below is of a Microscopic image of a Linear Scar on the piston rods. This would need to be changed due to that deep liner scar. Same problems can happen where the dust seal may be damaged from contact with this scar, and gas leaking past the seal since the scar creates a gap (improper seal).

inspec_30

Scratches on the piston rod are one of the most common. Below you will find the Microscopic image of the scratched area will give you a better understanding as to why we would need to change the piston rod for the rebuilt.

inspec_12

Last but not least would be the Microscopic Image of the Dents, these dents can be done to the piston rods from any rocks or debris on the road.

inspec_14

This is how it would normally look on the piston rod without the microscopic image.

inspec_15

As you can see why we would highly recommend to have these type of piston rods changed. All of these could have been one of the major problems that might have blown your dampers initially.

If you have any questions regarding our overhaul services and/or pricing, please feel free to contact us.

EDFC ACTIVE…. PRO??????

Just when you thought that something cool couldnt get any better, an even better version comes out. TEIN Japan has taken the already insane EDFC Active and added even more features bringing it to the mind blowing level.

EDFC Active Pro image

The new EDFC Active Pro controller would offer the same standard functions as the standard EDFC Active, but would add the following features in..

  • Four Wheel Independent Adjustment- Allow for a never before individual corner adjustment for even finer tuner reference.
  • Built-In Longitudinal and Lateral G-Sensor – Allows for both longitudinal and lateral movement adjustments where it was only longitudinal on the standard EDFC Active.
  • An addition of Two External Signal Input Ports for Adjustment- Allows for the another signal to be used in conjuction with the controller such as a Brake Signal or a Universal Signal.

Although it may not seem like much, this would take this kit to a whole new level. The EDFC Active Pro is expected to be released early January in TEIN Japan, and probably around mid March in TEIN USA. Pricing has not yet been finalized but is expected to only be a few hundred more which I feel is worth it. Check back with us on our websites “New Applications” section for up to date info on the release of this new kit.

TEIN MONO SPORT DAMPERS

Recently TEIN has been releasing there new updated version of our already popular coilover kits.

img04

The BASIC coilover kit has been updated and released as the STREET BASIS.

The Super Streets have been superseded by the STREET ADVANCE.

And our Flex damper has been superseded by the STREET FLEX.

All of these have been updated with new internal components and some minor changes to the outer portion as well. We’ve also been able to reduce MSRP a significant amount to make it much more affordable for our customers! You can find all the new product information through this link http://www.tein.com/products/index.html

bumprubber

Well now it’s time for the Mono Flex to have a change as well.  They have been finding new ways to have one of the best suspensions in the market for a very reasonable price.  Starting in 2014 TEIN will be releasing two variations of the MONO Sport.

clearmodel

The MONO SPORT and the MONO SPORT TOURING Coilovers. Both lines will carry our newly designed Upright Strong Tube for strut type suspensions. With this newly design, it reduces friction using a revised internal lubrication method. With this design we are able to have the click assembly for the dampening force adjustment on the top, making the adjustments or installation of the optional EDFC/EDFC Active much easier.

img05

The system still offers the 16 levels of compression and rebound together, but now it is equipped with exclusively-designed “ADVANCE M.S.V.” With the use of “ADVANCE M.S.V.”, damping force adjustable range is made about three times wider, yet superior damping force characteristics are maintained in all parts to improve steering response, road ability and traction performance.

These are just some of the few revisions done to the MONO Sport line for further information on the system please follow this link. http://www.tein.co.jp/e/products/mono_sport.html

Tech: EDFC Active Guide Part 1

IMG_6748

New to 2013, our EDFC Active system brings forth a higher and more enjoyable experience we expect on all of our products.  Not only can users adjust dampening levels instantly while sitting in the driver seat, the EDFC Active is also capable of automatic damper adjustments based on speed and G-forces making it truly one of a kind.  However, in order to properly utilize the maximum capabilities of this system, parameters must be set so the computer will know what to do at any given times.

Street Basis for the Honda Element

We recently went forward with testing of the Street Basis coilover which will replace the Basic. The Basic kit had some consumer concerns when it came down to the kits valving and also spring rates. Many consumers sent in the dampers to have the rears revalved to both a more aggressive spring rate and valving to match the spring rates. This time around further testing had been made to find the optimal ride quality for this kit, and being that another TEIN Staff member (Andres) and I already had the vehicles with an excessive modification to the dampers and the other in its stock form, we had a chance to throw in our own 2 cents.

The initial valving of the Basic was softer than expected for the rear. We both felt that the spring rate and valving should be changed to be more aggressive possible matching our past experiences. The first new spec was not to most of our expectations, not just coming from me but other staff who had a change to test drive the vehicle. They changed it many more times even asking to use my vehicle for the testing as it differed in ride feel from the SC models. Finally they came to a damping spec which, to my surprise, was extremely smooth and balanced for the spring rates used. Let’s just put it this way, the rear would actually still be carrying the same spring rate as the Basic but the fronts were change.

The Street Basis is expected to be released around mid to late February and would be priced around $900.00 MSRP but not confirmed yet. For future updates on the kits release date and pricing, please check back with us on the TEIN websites “New Applications” tab or follow us on Facebook.

Discontinued TEIN Shocks can still be manufactured?

Do you have a TEIN Suspension on your vehicle that might have been discontinued not too long ago, or even recently, or just have just one shock absorber from a discontinued model that incurred some damaged on the shock body making it unable to be repaired?

IMG_0194_1

If so, then TEIN now has a solution for you. Through our Specialized Damper Program we will be able to make a just one shock body, or multiple if needed. This is helpful for all those that do not want to spend a large amount of money on a full suspension set up for the vehicle.  We have had a few of our dealers and some customers have this done in the past for their suspension needs.

IMG_0194

If  you should be interested in having this done please contact any of our TEIN Authorized Dealers or send us an email and we will assist you the best as possible.  If possible, please have a part number ready or provide us images of the shock absorber if you are not sure of the model.
